Sichuan Province held the groundbreaking ceremony of the major projects in the fourth quarter of 2016 and the new park of Chengdu Branch Chinese Academy of Sciences on October 31th. Wang Dongming, the Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC, attended the groundbreaking ceremony and announced the start. Other attendee included Wang Enge, the Vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Yin Li, the Deputy Secretary of Sichuan Provincial Committee of the CPC and Governor of Sichuan Province, made a speech at the ceremony. Wu Jingping, Member of the Standing Committee and Secretary General of Sichuan Province, Tang Limin, Secretary-General of Sichuan Provincial Government, Tang Liangzhi, Secretary of Chengdu Municipal Committee of the CPC, Luo Qiang, Deputy Secretary of Chengdu Municipal Committee of the CPC and Acting Mayor, Zhang Yudong, president of Chengdu branch Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wang Xueding, Secretary of the Party Group and Executive Vice president of Chengdu branch Chinese Academy of Sciences , Chen Feng, Vice-president of Chengdu branch Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wang Jiatu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Group. The ceremony was presided over by Wang Ning who is the Member of the Standing Committee and Executive Vice Governor of Sichuan Province. 

It is known that the new park of Chengdu Branch Chinese Academy of Sciences planed the total area of about 1,020 acres, among which the total area of Science City Park accounts for 520 acres, including about 300 acres for the overall relocation and reconstruction and 220 acres for newly-built scientific research projects of some relevant departments. At the same time, there are 500 acres of land around the Science City Park which were reserved as the future extended area of Chengdu Scientific Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The first phase investment is 2.4 billion RMB, and they strive to gather more than 4,000 innovation and entrepreneurial talent.
